Referrals
Invite someone to Data Racing and you earn a share of the GEARS they earn, across three levels of invites.
The share is paid on top. Nothing is ever deducted from the person you invited — they keep every GEARS they earn, and your share is minted alongside it.
The three levels
| Level | Who they are | Your share of what they earn |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Someone you invited | 20% |
| 2 | Someone they invited | 15% |
| 3 | One step further out | 10% |
Your invite tree is fixed when someone signs up through your link and never changes afterwards.
What it pays in
GEARS, and EXP. Every referral share also grants you experience worth half the GEARS amount, which counts toward your level — and level is what gates tournament entry.
The EXP lands immediately. The GEARS follow the rules below.
GEARS never cashes out. A referral share is in-game currency, exactly like GEARS earned by racing: it buys cosmetics inside the game and nothing else. This is not revenue share, and there is no token, payout, or withdrawal attached to it.
The premium gate
Two conditions decide whether a share is paid, and both are about premium:
- The person you invited must own premium. Until they upgrade, their earnings generate nothing for anyone above them.
- You must own premium when the share is credited. Each level is judged on its own — an inactive inviter in the middle of a chain does not block the levels below or above them.
If you do not own premium yet, your shares are not lost. They collect in a pending balance you can see but not spend, and the whole balance is released the moment you upgrade.
And when someone you invited buys premium, everything they had already earned before that moment is paid out to their inviters in one catch-up credit. Nothing that happened before the upgrade is forfeited.
Limits
- A daily ceiling per inviter. Referral earnings are capped per day; anything past the ceiling is not carried into tomorrow. The exact figure is a tuning value and changes with balance passes.
- No compounding. A referral share does not itself generate further shares. Only real play — races, quests, logins — feeds the tree.
- Referrals are not ranked. There is one leaderboard and it is for playing. Referral earnings never appear on it.
What it cannot do
Referrals move GEARS and EXP only. They cannot buy rank or skill rating, add attempts to a scored run, or change physics, prizes, or odds for anyone. The pay-to-win firewall applies here exactly as it does to everything else.
